Mia Knop Jacobsen is an award-winning Danish musician, composer, and music producer renowned for her captivating vocals, innovative compositions, and dynamic productions. Over a career spanning more than a decade, Mia has garnered international acclaim for her unique fusion of genres, effortlessly blending modern jazz, contemporary pop, and electronic elements into a sound that is distinctly her own. As both a solo artist and a collaborator, she has toured extensively across South America, Asia, North America, and Europe, performing at prestigious festivals and venues including Jazz Open Stuttgart, Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, and Belgrade Jazz Festival.
Mia is a founding member of the trio Rosemarine, with whom she has released two critically acclaimed albums—ROSEMARINE (2019, Ropeadope) and Turn It (2023, Xjazz Music). Beyond her work with Rosemarine, she is involved in multiple projects, including collaborations with ECM artist Julia Hülsmann.
Her most ambitious project to date, the album EASE (released April 2024), represents a bold attempt to merge the boundaries between pop and jazz in innovative and captivating ways. Conceived as a deeply personal work, EASE was written and recorded in 2022 at the renowned Hansa Studio and features a stellar lineup of acclaimed musicians, including Hülsmann, Eva Klesse (drums), Marc Muelbauer (bass), Igor Osypov (guitar), and the enchanting mondëna quartet.
Mia's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Sparda Jazz Award and a residency at Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead at the Kennedy Center. Her debut solo single "Losing Our Game" was honored at the Listen to Berlin Awards in 2020. Critics have lauded EASE as one of the most exciting releases in German jazz, describing it as "mystical, weightless, poetic," and praising Mia for her ability to transcend genre boundaries and create music that is both innovative and deeply resonant.
