From CHINA to BARCELONA to BERLIN!!

LOSING OUR GAME was composed, recorded and produced by Mia Knop Jacobsen in 2019. Inspired by her 3 month stay in China she started the collaboration with Barcelona based percussioninst and producer Jeremy Friedman, who mixed the track and was featured on the drums.  
The song got nominated for the Listen To Berlin Awards 2020 and got selected for the Berlin Compilation 2020/2021.

Bio

Mia Knop Jacobsen is an award-winning danish singer, composer, and music producer who has gained international recognition for her unique  voice in todays music scene with her organic fusion of pop, jazz, and electronic music. 

As a vocalist Mia has toured extensively through South America, Asia, North America, and Europe collaborating with world renowned artists including Quincy Jones, George Benson, and Jacob Collier, and has performed at important music festivals and venues including Jazz Open Stuttgart 2017, the Beldrade Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center for Perfoming Arts, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, Le Poisson Rouge in New York City, the Constellation in Chicago, IL, the Jazz Rally in Düsseldorf, and the A-Trane in Berlin, to name a few. 

Currently based in Berlin, Germany, Mia is a founding member of the alternative trash pop trio Rosemarine whose self-titled debut album was recorded in London's famous Eastcote Studios and was released on the american record label Ropeadope, resulting in a featured performance at the Berlin XJazz Festival in 2019.  Mia is also a member of the jazz trio Last Chance to Misbehave alongside pianist and ECM recording artist Julia Hülsmann and international avant-garde turkish singer Ayse Cansu Tanrikulu and were recently featured at the 2020 Internationales Jazzfestival Halle - Women In Jazz.  

A graduate of the Jazz Institut Berlin and former student of star vocal coach David Lee Brewer, Mia has been awarded the Sparda Jazz Award in 2017 for her quintet The Mia Knop Jacobsen Group,  as well as the 2018 Betty Carter´s Jazz Ahead Residency at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C..  Most recently Mia has been nomianted for the Listen to Berlin Awards 2020 for her debut song as a solo artist "Losing Our Game" which will be featured on the CD compilation Listen To Berlin 2020/2021.

SECOND ALBUM "TURN IT" out now

Seit 2018 gibt es das Trio Rosemarine mit den zwei Berliner Expats Mia Knop Jacobsen (Gesang) aus Dänemark und Igor Osypov (Gitarre) aus der Ukraine sowie Philip Dornbusch (Drums) aus Deutschland. Die drei beschreiben ihre Musik als Mix aus New-Age-Progressive-Rock und Art-Pop in der Tradition von Acts wie Aphex Twin, Björk, David Bowie und Radiohead. So weit, so Waschzettel-Folklore. Aber ihr neues Album „Turn It“ ist mehr als nur die Summe dieser ästhetischen Referenzen und stilistischen Zuschreibungen. Vielmehr stellen die neun Songs den geglückten Versuch dar, sich von überkommenen Klischees eines zeitgenössisch-zeitgemäßen Popsounds zu lösen und Musik nach eigenen Vorstellungen zu formen, die sich offensiv gegen jedwede Referenzen und Zuschreibungen sperrt. Jacobsen, Osypov und Dornbusch scheren sich einen Deibel drum und klingen wohl deshalb so frisch und unbekümmert, dass es jedem, der auf der Suche nach ungehörter Musik ist, eine Freude ist, „Turn It“ zu entdecken.
